Come out, join AWC and get informed about the evolving film community right here in Kansas City. Members from Kansas City Women in Film & TV (WIFT), including Vicki Bates, chapter president, will enlighten us with their work and what local filmmakers are doing in our own backyard.
You will have the opportunity to meet Sue Vicory, founder and President of Heartland Films, Inc., a Kansas City-based film production company. She recieved the 2007 TrailBlazer "Spirit" Award from KCWIFT. She was also chosen as one of seven in the U.S. for the Women In Film/GM Alliance Acceleration Grant which enabled her to go to LA for a week last year to meet with industry executives. Her documentary films credits include "Homelessness & The Power of One" and "Kansas City Jazz and Blues: Past, Present and Future".
