Enjoy a Rich Cup of Entrepreneurship & Hometown Coffee with Award-Winning "Bean Baron" Danny O'Neill, The Roasterie's President & Owner

Join the Greater Kansas City Chapter of The Association for Women in Communications on April 15 from 5:30-7:30 pm at The Roasterie for an evening with Danny O’Neill, president/owner and "Bean Baron" of The Roasterie, headquartered in Kansas City. O'Neill's own blend of entrepreneurship, high quality product, a reputation as a great place to work and community outreach have built a successful enterprise with international reach.

O’Neill, who founded The Roasterie in the basement of his Brookside home in November 1993, will share his secrets of entrepreneurship and lessons learned in his quest to brew the best possible coffee. We'll hear how O'Neill has grown his company, and he also will educate us on the finer points of coffee as we dine and sip java around The Roasterie’s coffee bar.

He’ll also talk about his love affair with coffee that began at age 15, as well as tips on finding the best. Since The Roasterie's founding, O'Neill has made numerous trips back to Costa Rica, Panama, Kenya, Ethiopia, India, Colombia, Guatemala and Brazil, touring different segments of the coffee industry and locating premier coffee bean estates.

O'Neill and The Roasterie have been recognized on many counts. Last year Industry Magazine featured O'Neill and the company as one of the top 10 visionaries of commerce in Kansas City. Bottom Line Magazine named The Roasterie's Esmeralda Estates Panamanian coffee as one of the world's best. In 2006, locals voted the company's Brookside establishment "Best Coffeehouse in Kansas City" (KC Magazine).

O’Neill 's cupping experience includes a third-place finish at the 1995 Sintercafe Cupping Competition in Costa Rica, judge at the 1997 Sintercafe Cupping Competition, international judge in Brazil for the 2000 and 2001 Cup of Excellence (COE), as well as international judge at the 2002 COE in Guatemala and Nicaragua. He was also an international judge in cupping competitions in Costa Rica and India in 2002, as well as a barista judge in Lebanon in 2002. In April 2001 Danny was awarded "Super Taster" status on the Specialty Coffee Institute Sensory Aptitude Test.
